I was out, for the second time, with my new Glock 17 and put several hundred rounds through it.

I noticed, several times, that after a complete mag dump, when the slide automatically locked back, when I inserted a new magazine and seated it firmly with the palm of my hand, the slide came forward, on its own, and obviously, seated a round. I did not have to switch the release.

Problem? Normal?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Many pistols do this when the mag is inserted with excessive force.

You don't need to SLAM mags in to get them to seat.

OK, yup, I was slamming pretty hard, particularly my 33 round mags.

That is normal. Consider it a favor as it saves you a step during a reload.

Thanks. It happened only sporadically.

My 23 does this as well. Perfectly normal.

OK, thanks guys.

So, one more question...if you will humor me.

I've been working hard at my shooting with a handgun and am at a point now where I can really fine tune/dial myself in.

I'm shooting decent groups, but tend to put the rounds down and to the left of dead center, about half the time. I'll unload a 17 round mag and put about half on or near-on center bullseye, the rest, down and to the left.

What am I doing wrong?
