I bought a new Gen 3 Glock 27 about a month ago. Due to schedule/work I only got to shoot it yesterday (02/11/11) First mag fired 6 rounds and slide locked open. Still had 3 rounds in the mag. Dropped the mag, re-inserted and continued firing. Slide locked on empty mag only after that. Using the same 2 mags, I put about 150 rounds through it. Never had the issue again.
Is this something to concern myself with. This is one of my every day carry weapons. I carry in a Galco sob holster. I occasionally swap the Glock with my Ed Brown 1911 in a Milt Sparks vmii. I don't want to trust my life to something and have it not function.... Patrick |

Shoot it more and see if it duplicates, I hate to say it, but maybe you accidently shifted your grip and your thumb pushed the slide lock lever up. You're probably just getting used to the stout recoil and small grip. That's likely the case. I wondered at first if I just limp wristed it. Just concerned if this was a common problem. |
| very common with the subcompact 40 to bump the slide lock in recoil. especially with the support hand in 2 hand shooting- try shooting with 1 hand only(good to practice this anyway) and see if the problem goes away. You mention that you bought it a few months and yet you just shot it recently but that it is one of your primary defense guns. You should NEVER depend on a gun for defense you can't shoot and prove first. |
| Hitting the slide stop with the thumbs and any glock is always a problem to me. I like thumbs straigh forward and with the thin profile of the slid stop I don't feel that my thumb is hitting it. And as other stated this is what happen to you. If you plan of using it for carry make sure to give it a good break in and your good to go. By the way the Glock 27 is an awsome carry gun it's what I carry daily. |

I think you just bumped it. Happens occasionally, especially with thie subs. This is what I was thinking. I brought a g27 when they first came out. Got about 4000 rds through it. I have never had any isues at all. Hell, I rarely clean it and it's carried every day. As suggested, try shooting with one hand. It's a one hand gun. |

I would never carry a gun for self defense that I had not tested with a minimum 300 to 400 rounds of ball and another 50 to 100 of the load I plan to carry.
I have several Glock 27s and they are a well built, reliable, accurate gun..... BUT.... Test the crap out of it to be 100% sure then train train train...... |
