does anybody use one? it's highly recommended by massad ayoob for conceal carry guns. what parts and how much does the conversion take. is it hard to do yourself or better to have it done by a glock armorer? thanks

The NY-1 trigger spring costs about 3 bucks + shipping from your favorite Glock parts store. You can probably find a video on how to on you tube.....all you need is an armorers tool (small punch).

Glock NY1 trigger job

If you go with the 4.5 "-" connector the whole thing will cost you about 40 bucks & that includes an armorers tool.

It's worth noting that agencies that don't issue the NY1 hit at twice the ratio of NYPD, and sometimes four times the ratio.

Complete waste of money.

I used to use one in my G26.

For install, you need a NY1 trigger spring (funky plastic thing) and a Glock tool (or similar sized punch).  The Glock Armorer's manual is floating around with instructions, as well as other sets of instructions.  I did not install mine, but I did remove it and return it to stock.  The guy who installed it did it between stages at a 3-gun match in the snow.  It's not hard to do.

I removed it because it's detrimental to accuracy and felt like crap.  YMMV.

I'd give you my old spring, but I already gave it away.  (Yep, it was that lousy.)  Midway sells the part and the tool.

Meh

It makes the trigger heavier all the way through, and even with the 3.5lb connector I found it too heavy.

The reset is orgasmic, but the pull SUX.

No thanks.

Great reset, but the trigger pull is heavy. I have one in my duty BUG G26. My work guns all have heavy DAO triggers so I'm used to it and I like to have similar trigger pulls between my work guns.

Yep. Unless you want to pair it with a polished 3.5lb connector in which case you get a nice crisp trigger pull with a awesomely fast reset.

I had one with the 4.5lb Glock connector and it was interesting, but i have switched back to the stock 5.5lb connector and regular trigger spring and am much happier.

In the future the only thing I will do to Glock triggers is pull them, a lot.

Cite, support, statistical study for this assertion?

That's interesting, considering that NYPD officers that choose a Glock must purchase one with a NY2(orange-12lbs) trigger spring, or have them retrofitted at the range.  The NY1 tirgger is so named for the New York State Police, as that agency issues it's weapons with the NY1(green-8lbs) trigger spring.

ETA––FWIW, I don't find any of the higher weight trigger's to be a problem provided that you put in enough dryfire time to build up your finger muscle to have the strength to smoothly control the trigger.

i have the ny1 in my gun w/ the .25c trigger job... shoots just fine for me.  i was hitting bottles at 20yds with relative ease, however i plan on dropping a 3.5 connector in as well.

i don't think it makes it as heavy as some like to portray.  it definitely does make it heavier, but there is a certain amount of exaggeration.

the reset is great as others have pointed out.  personally, i don't think there is any reason other than the reset, to mess with the stock trigger.  the only reason the ny1 is in the gun is because it came with it since it was used.

Duty weapon is a Sig P229, personally owned back up is G23 w/ NY1 trigger.

I like the fact that the NY1 trigger takes out all of the slop/creep/stacking of the trigger. One solid pull all the way through. Trigger break is about the same as my Stock Sig DA mode.

I like it, I shoot it better.
