| my gun dealer will have a new gen 4 23 avaliable on tuesday. should I keep my gen 3 23 or will the gen 4 be okay? Or is there really nothing wrong with the gen 4 just stupid people who don't know how to properly operate a handgun? |

Bought a Glock 23 Gen 4 a few weeks ago, I like it. So far only 200 rounds thru it, with zero malfunctions thus far. The stiffer recoil spring used in the new G23 Gen 4 is a decent improvement on the G23 Gen 3 IMHO. It helps to mellow out the snap of the 40 S&W compared to the Gen 3. I always thought the previous Gen G23 were slightly under sprung (as far as the recoil spring) to begin with. I usually shoot 155 & 165 Gr loads. I would say because of the 40 S&W recoil impulse, the Gen 4 is a bigger improvement on the G23 than on the G19. I'm using the small back strap on the new G23 this combined with the new texture is also an improvement over Gen 3.
I don't plan on getting rid of my G23 Gen 3, good pistol . But I may try going to a aftermarket recoil spring and guide set up such as Wolff makes with a increased extra power recoil spring after trying my Gen 4 out.. |

Does Glock offer the Gen4 recoil system for the 23 as a standalone part? I'd like to try out the new system without having to buy a new pistol. Do you mean a Gen4 recoil setup for a Gen3 G23? No. The slide and frame are modified slightly to accommodate the larger recoil spring setup. |
