So I should probably just search first but the arfcom search sucks and it maddens me every time I have to use it.
I bought a used G19 at a gun shop yesterday. Looked very clean, I don't think it was shot too often. Has the extended slide release, extended mag release, TroGlo TFOs, a grip plug and supposedly some sort of trigger work. Shot about 30ish rounds through it yesterday just after I bought it, had not a single problem. Few questions, I'm pretty sure its a ban era gun from 2001ish comparing my serial to the thread on glocktalk and the inclusion of 2 10rd mags instead of 15rds. Was there any updates to the design I need to be concerned with? How can I tell what trigger work, if any has been done to it? Comparing it to my friends G19 trigger pull his has an odd takeup then breaks, mine is glass smooth throughout the pull. Concerning the grip plug, should I leave it there or remove it? Mine is a fair bit easier to rack than his, should I replace the guide rod? Any other parts I need to worry about? I noticed when I was cleaning it that the firing pin was protruding from the breech face when the gun was disassembled. Is this normal? Thanks for any help guys and I am very glad I finally joined the dark side. |
| So through some research I found the great plug debate, I'll leave it for now since its already there. Discovered an easy way to tell if the recoil spring is gtg and it is. Lastly I found out that the firing pin protruding from the breech face is normal during field stripping. I suppose I will call Glock on monday and see if there were any necessary upgrades that needed to be performed. |
| My new G26 has definite initial slack in the trigger, and the arrival of the "break" point (or close to it from a noob perspective) is fairly obvious. Suffice to say, the trigger pull is not smooth throughout. That said, I'm not sure I dislike the standard trigger pull. In fact, I sorta like it - particularly like knowing where reset is for the 2nd shot.. |
