I've always wondered how interchangable Glocks are and swear I've read about people doing something similiar, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Do NOT try putting a G17 slide on a G26 frame.  It won't work and won't come right back off "normally".  Thankfully searching the archives came up with a fix.  You have to remove the rear plate.  After a stressful 15 minutes, I had the 26/17 back apart with no harm done.  Felt like it would be a nice setup, though.

Oh yeah... I had the new G17 for less than 7 hours when I decide to try this stupidity.

Curiousity and a long time desire to tinker.

I did feel very relieved when it came apart.  All I could think "damn, how am I going to explain this one to Glock/anyone when I have to ask for help".

If anyone else decides to try this, please take a picture.

Just to be weird I wonder what it would be like if I put my G19 slide on my G22 frame...

You can put a 19 slide on your 26 and it will run fine.

The 17 and the 19/26 use a different barrel lockup.  Guess you learned that now.

Switch out the locking blocks next time and it'll work fine.

I'm so glad you posted on this! Picking up a 26 next end of this week and sure as shit would have gotten board and tried to swap parts with my 17.

I put my 22 slide on a 27 just joking one day. I had to play with it for a bit to remove it.

i saw a thread on a site where a guy put a hk45c slide on a hk45 frame, and cut the dust cover portion of the frame back to the slide, didnt look too bad, kinda like the xdm 3.8....i wondered if you could do this with a 17 frame and a 19/26 slide...i sold my 26 and only have 17s or i would try..26 slide on 19 frame would be better..

I was thinking about this the other day, myself.

A 17 slide with a 26 frame would be cool as hell. Basically a Glock version of the Colt CCO.

I might as well try my 17L slide with my G26 frame.

Photoshop is for sissies.  Let's see the real thing!

My first trip to the range with the new G17 did not go well.  Lots of eject and feed problems.  All I could think of was "what did I screw up!".   I'm pretty sure now it was the old green box of Remington UMC I grabbed.  The overall length measures about .070" shorter than the Winchester white box I have, and abut .050" shorter than the Federal.

I don't know whether to throw up or change out locking blocks and try and make one.

Bowie Tactical Concepts appears to have pioneered the process of chopping the bottom of the grip off of standard Glocks.

I'm probably going to have them shorten my old G21.
