The other night I started thinking about something and the upshot was I got out some of my CCW pieces and weighed them.  I was mainly interested in the compact guns I carry IWB, not full size service pistols or BUGs.  I rounded the weights to the nearest ounce.  I did this on a digital postal scale, so if you disagree with the readings blame Pitney Bowes, not me.
Fully loaded, from lightest to heaviest they are,
Charter Arms Bulldog (44 Special, 5 shot, 200 gr.)..22 ounces

Glock 26 (9mm, 10+1, 124 gr.).............................26 ounces

S&W 3913 (9mm, 8+1, 124 gr.)............................28 ounces

Ruger SP-101 (357 Mag, 5, 125 gr.).....................28 ounces

HK P7 (9mm, 8+1, 124 gr.)..................................34 ounces

Glock 29 (10mm, 10+1, 180 gr.)...........................34 ounces

S&W 4553 (45 ACP, 6+1, 230 gr.).........................34 ounces
To put these weights in perspective my Colt 1911A1 Government Model weighs 48 ounces fully loaded and my S&W Airweight model 38 bodyguard weighs 19 ounces loaded.
Concealment is an issue with guns like these, so the thin guns, the 3913 and 4553 are easier to conceal, but carrying a gun for 12-14 hours weight can be a major comfort factor.  Even with a good belt and holster, after 14 hours a 1/2 pound difference is quite noticeable.  Or at least is for me.

What we think of at this time of night!
A while back I was tring to see just what the diffrents
carring my full size 1911 and two mags.
Over my Para- Ordnance P13 plus 1(early model)
My scale is NOT digital. So these wts will be off.
Colt loaded with two extra 8 round mags
was about 4lbs 2oz. This gave me total of 25 rds.
The Para loaded with two extra 13 round mags
was about 4 lbs 5oz. This gave me a total of 40rds.
So for about 5oz to 10oz or so, I can carry 15 more rds.
I do not think most people think of wt.
Most buy the gun they like, wt be darn!
I also have an old Star PD 45acp. I should wt it as well.
Our weather is no way near as hot as AZ.
But it has been very warm here too.
So I carry my Bulldog 44 spl. No I did not wt it yet.
I get the chance, I will wt more fire arms.

The G17 is 22 ounces empty.  Loaded it's 32, a little more if you're using 147 grain loads.  About what my G29 and S&W 4553 weigh.  Not a bad carry weight, I can carry a 32-34 ounce gun all day pretty comfortably.  For me dropping that by a half pound makes a difference, but not till late in the day.

But for me a full size, double stack service pistol will not conceal to a level I'm comfortable with under light clothing.  Mainly because I have to sit, kneel, crawl under desks, etc, etc and I've often got someone watching me.  When you're doing that kind of stuff it really makes anything under your shirt stand out.

The Bulldog, at least the early one like mine, weighs 16 oz empty and 22 loaded.  It's even lighter than the Glock 26.  I can carry the Bulldog and at 9pm at night it's still barely noticeable.  But I'm not even going to try to fool myself into thinking I can reload a revolver in the middle of a gun fight, which is what keeps me from making it my daily carry gun.

Weight makes a big difference if, like me, you like to leave your gun on your belt all day.  If you take it off as soon as you get home from work then it's not such a big deal.

Yes, you're right about that G17 weight.  Was just staring at my post I made last night, thinkin' how erroneous it was, in that way.

Still a heck of alot lighter than the 1911s I was used to carryin'.  And I MUST say, the weight of the 1911 never bothered me at all.............until I transitioned to Glocks, spent some months carrying one, and put the 1911 back on for a day........THEN it was rather noticeable.

Weight is why I gave in and got a plastic gun.  M&P 9c should be about 30.4 ounces with 12 rounds.  No scale to to verify.  My BHP is about 42 ounces with 16 rounds.

I haven't carried anything other than my 1911 and 2 reloads since I started carrying. It's on when I get up at 6am and it comes out of the holster into the bathroom at 11pm when I shower. Other than that, it's on my hip, what, 17hrs a day?

Sounds like if I would try something like my G17, I won't want to carry the beast anymore

I've got quick strips.  I'm left handed and reloading a revolver left handed quickly and without fumbling, when all your fine motor skills are gone, requires a whole lot of practice and repetitions even with quick strips.  Until I reach a reasonable level of proficiency, I'm not carrying a revolver as anything other than a BUG.

Do you carry your P7 often?  Seems like a lot of weight for less than 10 rounds, but still a nice rare gem.
My G19 with 16rds of 124gr HSTs weighs about 30oz., and 34oz with the TLR1 light.
