I just got my license to carry. Pretty painless process, went in with filled out application, paid, waited for background check, got picture taken, wait a minute for it to print, and now I am licensed to carry.
I plan on carrying my Glock 19 Now I need to decide on a belt and holster. I have been going back and for between the Wilderness Instructor belt, or a CompTac reinforced belt. I'm not so sure which one. Holster wise I am sold on the MTAC. Any advise would be appreciated! |

depends on what you need out of a belt. Is it casual or dress? Do you wan't to own and maintain leather or not? Can you go to a 1.5" to 1.75" belt or would you prefer a smaller belt with a stiffener?
Most of what aides in decision making has to do with how it will be used and your personal preferences. If you want leather, like having options and can wait or if you need a business appropriate belt then check out thebeltman.net. If you need a casual belt then either of the two you mentioned will do. The recommendation that was made to me was to use horsehide without a stiffener and the belt will have a nicer finish. For what you are paying for the comp tac you can pick and choose the buckle, color and leather you want with the belt man. ETA: I love my MTAC so you will be happy. |

Hell, i paid $50 took the course, now I have to go to the sherriffs office, fill out the form, pay $75, wait up to 45 days, when license comes back, pay $15, then you are GTG West Virginia, very gun friendly state, and yet to carry a gun they charge the shit out of youOh, and on belts, I'm a big fan of the 5.11 tactical belts, very stiff, long wear. I have worn mine for a few years. Probably going to need a bigger one now for CCW. |

Thanks for the replies guys. I seems like as of now the wilderness would fit the bill. I will have to take a look at the Beltman too. jnk556- It was only $25 for 5 years....sorry to rub it in ![]() Yeah, this state is messed up, the polititions in Charleston, they all love guns, but they want something for themselves for being so friendly
Our permit here is for 5yrs, not sure on the renewal, I think it's like $75 or so... |
| Belt: I use a Schmidt workwear belt from Tractor supply, $25 link to belt. I have read others are using Carhartt belts. The work belts will last a long time, support your pistol and are a bit more affordable. |

I run a $40 Aker B21 belt. Double leather with the polymer stiffener. I’d like to try a Wilderness myself, but leather is a little more dressy and I wear the belt to work every day. Still need to pick one up though.
I haven’t found any holster I like better than the MTAC. Primary carry is a G19. |
| Consider buying a spaer minitaur body for the 1911 in your picture. You will be surprised on how easy it is to conceal. The thin profile of a 1911 makes it perfect for IWB carry. I can conceal a full size 1911 much better than I can conceal my SC XD 40 because the XD is a wide profile gun. |

Enjoy. Report back on the quick ship belt from thebeltman because I might pick one of those up someday for more casual stuff once my current belt goes out. I got the the quick ship belt today in the mail. I dont have a holster yet but it looks like it will carry very well. I will post updates when I do get the holster. |
