I suggest going to the Hometown forum here and asking someone from your state/county. There may even be a CCW sticky in there for you. |

I sent my application in at the end of November and my check was cleared last week. I was told to expect a 3-month turnaround due to an abnormally large number of applications being processed. I'll be patient until then. I was given the same TF, I just got pumped when I saw that the check cleared. |

lol, I remember the wait... it sucked so bad.
I actually looked at my mail one day before I left the house and didn't see what I was hoping, i didn't open it, just looked at who it was from. I left and then started thinking about the mail and remembered seeing something that could have been my permit... at first I thought it was property tax bill from the county. I turned around, rushed home, opened the letter and sure enough it was my permit. I strapped on my G19 and left the house again a happy camper. |

I suggest you ask in your home town forum. It varies substantially from state to state.
In Arizona they are really busy, some people are having to wait as long as 10 days instead of the normal 3-5 days. In Texas normal is 60-90 days. i have no idea in FL, ask the other FL folks. |

i put my paperwork in on oct 5, and was told a 4-6 week turnaround. i finally got my permit jan 10... thats what, about 13 1/2 weeks or something? you just have to be patient. remember its the government, they are a bit "slower" than us lol Dayum.... I put mine in for the lifetime on oct 14 and had it nov 18th.you got hosed... |

I've been thinking about getting my FL non-resident permit, good to know what the wait time is, I think I'll send it in so I have it before I travel anywhere.
In KS we had to submit our paperwork to the sheriff's office when we went to get printed, then we got a notice in the mail that we could take to the DMV. Went to the DMV, got my photo taken and they had to send me the permit in the mail. The cool thing KS does, they print a temporary permit on receipt paper with your photo, so you can carry that day. I took my class and submitted my paperwork in October before CC was legal, got my notice of approval the day it became legal, and was carrying the next day. My wait time for my Utah permit back in 2004 was 30 days from the day I mailed my packet. |

I'm waiting for someone to tell me it should only be a few days now that they cashed my check. Someone lie to me...please. after they cashed my check, they had it to me in 2 weeks. from what I was told, it was still waiting for the background check 2 days before it arrived in my mailbox. |
| Meh... it might be much worse for me. My prints came out kinda faded looking on both cards (one worse than the other). So I might have to wait the full 90 days for the Idaho permit (they let me know that it does indeed take the full 90 days now). So now there's a chance I'll have to resubmit my prints which will probably add an additional 90 days... so that's like six months of waiting. Bleh. |

I applied dec 12. in bannock county. The Lady ther told me to call back in 60 days and it will probably be there. Others have told me to call @ 30, 60 and 90 and check in. I think I'll call next week some time. |

| Usually 90 days in FL. They ahve been very backed up since early last year. I got my FL CCW early last year and it took approx. 80 days with Electronic Fingerprints. There is a number on the FL CCW Webpage you can call to get a status check on your app. But when I called on mine last year they would not even give you a status update until a minimum of 45 days had passed. |
| I turned in my application two weeks ago today. Sheriffs office called Wednesday to say that my permit was in. I went to pick it up today ready to start carrying but what they gave me was a 4x6 piece of cardboard and said the one for my wallet will be mailed to me. I guess I could get a MUCH bigger wallet. |

That was March/April of 2008. A lot depends on which town you live in. Vernon was super fast and very easy, other towns I have heard horror stories of 6-8 months with towns playing dumb. |

I thought the towns no longer had anything to do with it. My town clerk just said it was up to how busy the state was with backgrounds. I went right to dps to get the fingerprints done and they said they were backlogged six months but the head of dps approved overtime to push them out and they were completly caught up and I was told 4-6 weeks max.
The towns just want their check (Toll payment) since their is no longer town permits. |
| I sent in my paperwork in early November. My check cleared about 3 weeks into November. I called the number last week and was told my application had still not even been entered into the computer nor had the background check begun. You still have a wait ahead of you. |
Well here in missouri it took me 38 days the first time, well this past feb.mine was up for renewal and the wife got sick and we moved across town, well it was past the 6 months renewal time and today i had to go and reapply like a new person and now gotta wait again after being printed and such and could wait up to another 45 days

Well, over here in NY. Nassau County (long island) to be specific; it takes 6 months. Prints and payment for the permit within the 1st 2 weeks. Notorized questionare, 4 notorized references, notorized explainations of any tickets w/in 3years of application... It's been just over 5 months, and 2 of my references were contacted last weekend... meanining they really will take the full 6 months! This also isn't going to allow me to carry concealed at all times. Only, to and from the range, or hunting. A Full carry is only issued if you can show there is a threat to your life. You can get a Business carry which is more of a Full carry, but must show cause (cash carry) and then there is a permit to posses a handgun w/ in your home only... Needless to say, but I'll be driving around to pistol ranges all over NY, most days. lol.
I understand how it feels to take forever, atleast when you get your FL permit, you can carry in over 30 states... |

I received my permit to today!! It took a little less than 6 months. They said 6 months. Glad to hear it. I just called on mine today and they told me there is big backlog and I could be looking at as much as 60 additional days. I cried a little. |

There's a thread on the Florida Hometown Forum that will be informative for you. Bottom line; 95,000 application backlog and they're hiring additional temporary help, but there's no way that permits will be issued within the 90 day period as required by law. |

I finally got it,I was tired of waiting so I went to the town to check what was taking so long, they said oh its right here we have had it for a while.
So I said you told me not to call that you would contact me when it came in,and the clerk says oh no we nver call its your job to keep calling, At least the wait is over I see a new pistol in my future in the next 24 Hrs |
, so once I had the permit, went in, bought a G19 and started carrying that day.
