Submitted my prints and package last month.  Got a return for "Smudged prints" yesterday.  When I took the cards in to be reprinted the officer said that when they get a bunch of applications in at a time they will do that to thin the pile a little bit.  Has anyone else had this happen to them when applying for CCWP?

Just curious... by the way, it was less than a month for the return.

Digital prints are the way to go... Less problems & more accurate.

I didn't realize some states required prints for a CCW permit.

Yep.  It took about 2 minutes when I got my permit and it showed on the screen if the prints were valid.

In VA you need to turn in 2 copies. All you do is go to the police station first(in my case one is a few blocks from the court) and tell them the cards are for a concealed handgun permit. They will do them for you for free. In my county they were digital scans and they just printed me 2 cards. Entire thing took like 25 or 30 minutes because the detective they paged to come down and run the prints was busy.

I didn't have to get prints taken when I got mine. I guess it all depends on which county you are in. Had to have 2 forms of ID, a proof of weapons saftey class, and fill out a few forms and pay 50$. Had it in less then 2 months. I'm up in Fairfax if it makes a difference.

I just had my prints taken a couple of days ago.  I have clammy hands in cold weather and I think I may have messed up my prints.  The first copy, the center of the print would look faded.  The second copy, the prints were a little better, but some still looked faded.  Supposed to get a response in 90 days... so if I fucked them up, I have to wait a total of six months (if my second run proves to be better)... bleh.

Of course the guy right before me was a local celebrity and was sweet talking the fingerprint lady.  Left the ink pad open for a long time... long enough to dry?!  So I blame him!  Hehe.

I stand corrected.

I thought it was a state policy but I guess the counties around me just all demand it.

In Washington they take prints, but when I did it it was the old fashion way. They may use the scanners now. Here in Missouri they used the scanner and it took forever with the girl trying to do it. I had two fingers not want to scan at all so they got skipped. Mine to one week, most take upto the 45 days.

I thought this thread was going to be about concealment issues!
