I need help writing a compelling statement > Carry Issues

I live in Washington State and work in Oregon 5 days a week. I have taken class for the Oregon CCL. The application it requires a compelling statement as to why I want the license.

I suck at writing these type of things, and my standard response would be because there are bad people out there, or cops don't fit in my pocket isn't gonna fly.

So I need help please, wording a statement on why i should be issued a license.

Pull the "and others" portion out of that. You don't want them thinking you are some sort of gung-ho Rambo-superman out to stop bad guys.

Yeah, you're probably right about that, maybe "Myself and my family" would be better?

Oregon is a shall issue state they have to give you a permit even if you don't write what they want.Write what everyone else said all in one sentence.

something along the lines of "to defend myself and my family" "my personal interest in firearms as a hobby and a sport" talking about firearms as a sport doesnt sound so scary to liberals.... just a thought.

Which county in Oregon are you going through?

It should be a no-hassle deal in Morrow county, I don't know about any of the wacky wet side ones.

I know Oregon is a shall issue state. I have a friend that has a WA state CCL and was denied in Washington county Oregon. He said he got no reason as to why.

The place I took the class called the Sheriff while I was there to make that they would issue if I followed the rules and they said yes.

I want to do this once and not have to deal with a different county idiot.

When I wen't to get mine in mahluer county the lady that processes them said I had to live in a county that bordered theirs to be approved. Ada county (boise) is two over. I said that I would like to apply anyway. I put down that I had a compelling business interest in Mahleur county and would like to carry my legally owned firearm. I also used my Idaho CCW as one of their required photo ID's. Came to my house three or four weeks later.
