So I am about to send everything in for the Utah CCW, took class, picture etc..etc..

here is my question. On our fingerprint card the local PD did all the prints. The officer signed the card and put his badge number. Does he need to put anything else like a PD stamp or at least the name of the PD?

Any experience with this? My thoughts are so I don't send it off and they kick it back..the local officer took the finger prints and signed it but it does not have a PD stamp or anything which I wonder is Utah BCI looking for that??

Thanks

When I got my Utah permit about a year ago the instructor took my fingerprints and signed the card.  He was a local FFL, non-LEO affiliation.  So while this may not answer your question authoritatively I think they are pretty lax on who they give permits to.

I just had my FBI print card done for my out of state Florida permit and the sheriffs dept stamped it and signed it.

I would call and ask on Monday.

Where did you get your paperwork packet for Utah? I am interested in getting that one as well.

Do you have to take a Utah class to get a Utah license or will the NRA pistol class be OK?

I blieve the Utah has to be signed off by a person that has been trained under the Utah rules.

On my application I have a stamp from my instructor that has a certification number issued by Utah..

Better get it done soon…

Utah is looking into its' non-resident issue policies with tightening them up as the goal!

Was it Utah that recently changed policy on 3rd party permits? They will not recognize any permit unless they issue it or it is issued by the resident state of the holder. In other words I live in PA, but only have a FL ccw permit. It would not be valid in UT where as a FL resident with a FL ccw would be valid.

I have a feeling the anti-gunners are going to be quietly pushing this type of law to help stem the recent gains in ccw rights.

OK, I checked into it and you need to have a Utah State certified instructor give you a 4hr. safety class. It doesn't matter what training you have received before, unless it was given by a Utah certified instructor they will not recognize it.

For a list of out of state instructors follow THIS pdf. format link.

ETA - Here is the Utah DPS website for out of state CCW's.

I spoke with the Utah BCI  (Bureau of Criminal Identification) and they said in the signature block of the person taking the prints they only need the signature..not stamp is required from the local PD or the organization taking the prints...they (BCI) just transfer the prints over to their system....

We had out local travel agent do our prints for our UT CHL. They do a lot of travel work for SE Asians (visas, immigration docs) and are Dept of State certed to do fingerprints . We (wife and I) didn't have any problems with the UT approval. The local sheriff does prints also, but they have hours that are inconvenient for people that work day jobs. BSW
