| So I used to carry a 1911 and was never comfertable, Then switched to a G19 and G27.... I just cant seem to feel comfertable with any holster in any position. So now I pocket carry a Jframe and it works out great. I am just not happy having only 5 bullets.... Carrying extra 5 or 10 is very bulky in a speed loader and honestly im getting tired of not having enough pocket room with the Jframe in my pocket and I cant take up ANOTHER pocket with 2 bulky speed loaders. I Carry A Knife, Lighter, (Soon Flashlight) Wallet, BlackBerry, Cell phone and Car Keys....... WTF to do next? Should I just quit bitching and slap one of the other guns back on and get some much needed pocket Space? |
| I too carry a revolver (3" M65). What I do is use a couple of Bianchi Speed Strips. Basically, they are a rubber strip, which holds six 38/.357 rounds in a row. With some practice, you can reload with this pretty efficiently. Not as fast as a speedloader, but better than throwing the revolver. They are fairly flat, so they conceal pretty well too. |
What brand and make of holsters? What make of Belt? And be specific as to what "was never comfortable". |
| Actually I had two VMII Holsters..... When I carry at about 2 oclock it was great but being in the car with a seat belt also sitting at my desk was not comfertable. I tried carrying at 4 and my arm kepting hitting it. I tried carring around 5 and that was comfertable but sitting down and being in the car was horrible! Plus I didnt feel I could make a fast draw. I thought about trying a Comtac as everyone eaither likes the Miltsparks I had ro the Comtac..... OH AND YES I HAD A GOOD BELT |

As long as you don't have a larger belly, you will have no problem carrying a G19 or G27 AIWB (appendix in the waistband). I carry my duty SIG P229 AIWB when working plainclothes and carry a G36 like that when off duty. The G27 will be perfect due to it's shorter barrel. You need to find a holster with a straight drop. I prefer Kydex because it's thinner than leather. I use a FIST #1 Clip straight drop for my G36 and a Don Hume leather PCCH straight drop for my SIG. There are many companies making Appendix specific holsters now due to it's popularity and advantages over carrying behind the hip. Try a composite IWB holster like the Crossbreed, Tucker Answer, or Ctac Mtac along with a decent belt and pants big enough. What also helped me is to wear a wife beater T as an undergarment, then wear a pair of Perry suspenders on top of that but under my outer garment and then loosening the belt one notch. This protects your skin from the holster/gun/suspenders and let's the holster/gun kind of float. You could also try the G27 or the G19 in a OWB, high ride holster. Almost as easy to conceal as an IWB holster and more comfortable yet. If you're mostly standing with only some sitting then I've found that a 4 or 5 o'clock position is the most comfortable. If you're sitting a lot try a 3 o'clock position, or if you've got no gut at all then maybe a 2 o'clock position. If you're in a position to wear a larger outer garment then you might want to consider a shoulder holster. I wear one when riding a motorcycle and have worn it all day for many days in complete comfort. |

Consider an outside waistband setup. I tried many IWB configurations and could not find a comfortable spot anywhere, especially when strapped in behind the wheel. I am not overweight but I could not be comfortable with the extra mass inside my waistline. My OWB setup is very comfortable ( 45 USPc in an Alessi CQC/S ) but access to the gun while driving with seatbelt is not a realistic option. I carry my backup gun, a SW 640 in a Renegade ankle holster. I find it easy to clear my slacks and draw the weapon while seated behind the wheel. |
