Is there any reason I shouldn't get a "slide" model instead of the standard?

I would love to have one holster for both my Glock 23 & 27 but I don't see anbody using one of these.

They're fine but if you're practicing at the range and the slide gets hot, you'll burn your ass when you reholster between strings of fire.

I'll try to keep that in mind.  Most of the time I would be carrying my 27 so it wouldn't be an issue but sit knowing me I will end up with a blister on my hip.

From my experience they may not even be needed. I carry both my Service and Subcompact XDs in the same holster. The holster was bought for the Service model, but the SC fits in it just fine. Only thing is that there is an extra inch of material that isn't being filled by barrel.

I am not a Glock man, so I can't say if this would work on your two pistols. However, from what I can tell, as long as the trigger guard is in the same location it should work (retention wise).
