www.uncle-mikes.com/m_sidekick_p.asp?grpky=473 Anyone used one of these? Any other makers of a better one? They seem to be designed for backup guns. Wondering how well they would work with a med-large frame gun. Looks like a good option for cc under a T-shirt during the summer. Thanks. |

I've got a buddy (6'4") that carries his Springfield longslide in one of these and you would never know its there! He always wears a white t-shirt of some kind underneath it though. Although it feels like a big ace bandage, the belly band that I have worn needed the t-shirt underneath to keep the holster from sliding around on your chest. I definitely think there are better ways to carry, but in the interest of having lots of gear and multiple holsters for every situation, I say get one. There are sometimes where these are the only realistic way to carry given the clothing of the day. Course, I've lost all my pride and have begun wearing a Royal Robbins phototerrorist vest in the summer to conceal my pistolas! |
| A belly band works pretty well when you need deep concealment. I wouldn't recommend one when moving around a whole lot but they do seem to hold the gun fairly well. I carried a Kel-Tec P11 in one quite a bit. One trick that worked for me, when wearing button down shirts was to sew a "fake" button on the front of the shirt, and use a little Velcro underneath to actually hold the shirt together. This allows quick draw practice without damaging your shirt too much. I would also suggest wearing it over a T-shirt; they do get uncomfortable otherwise. |
