I am moving to Lousiana and they take 6 months before I can Carry but I was looking at Florida and they do not say you need to be a resident on their site. Can I get a Florida CCW from them to carry? Thanks Scott |

You can get a Florida CCW as a resident or a nonresident. A faster and cheaper alternative (for Louisiana) is New Hampshire. Only $20 for 4 years. You need a CCW from any other state though. Do you have a NM CCW? My only concern would be the Lousiana authorities honoring a nonresident license held by a Louisiana resident. webster.state.nh.us/safety/nhsp/plupr.html ETA: NH seems to turn applications around very quickly. It will probably take only a week or two mailbox to mailbox. |
| In MO you have to be 23, so a lot of 21 y/o's are venturing toward FL and strangely enough Utah. Utah is honored a lot of places, as is FL. It's called a non-resident permit for a reason; you don't have to be a resident. As far as legal issues, just make sure your state honors it and you will be fine. If anyone ever questions you having a permit from a state you don't live in, tell them you have business there. I'm just a young pup, but this year I will be getting my non-resident permit to carry me over until I'm 23 when I can get MOs permit, which I will do. Check out packing.org for their catalog of carry info by state. Good luck mate. |
| Bear in mind that in LA the car is an extension of your home so you may have a loaded weapon in your vehicle, so long as it is not concealed regarding a traffic stop. Granted it doesn't do you much good in aisle 4 of the quickie mart, but it does on your way over there at 2am. |
I guess it's time to update your profile. ![]()
The NH nonresident license is honored in NH, AK, AL, CO, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, ND, OK, PA, SD, TN, UT, VT and WY. www.handgunlaw.us/documents/USReciprocity.pdf
Alabama also honors New Hampshire.
Do you have a Texas CHL by any chance? You can keep it when you move to Louisiana. |
