I wear 5.11 Stryke (74369) cargo pants every day. I own a pawn shop/gun store. I hate the tactical look but I am hard to fit for IWB because I'm 6'6", 235. The 5.11' just fit me perfectly. I'm looking at the ridgeline non cargo pants, but no one has them in stock in my size and color, tan 38x36.
Any alternatives with similar fit to the 5.11, fitted non cargo, but with an old man expandable waist for IWB carry? |

I like the Stryke pants also. They are more fitted then most cargo pants. I tried 5.11s Covert Cargos and really like thes also. They have extra pockets hidden inside the pants. Take a look at their video they have on these.
I just wish they came in more colors. |

Since you like 5.11s check out their new APEX pants. I liked the looks of them a lot but really didn't want to drop that much on a pair and end up not liking them, so I jumped on a pair at their Black Friday sale. So in short, those pants are awesome man. They have cargo pockets, but theyre not noticeable and are styled more like the VertX pants with just the small zippered covering. They have normal front and back pockets, and the hidden mag pockets in the back as well.
But the best thing about them by far is the fabric, it just feels good. Soft, water-repellant and has a tad bit of stretch built in to the entire pant. |

Ordered from Duluth, and a pair of apex's. The INI look just like the Stryke, which im thrilled with other than the tacticool look.
I get accused of being a cop that quit to open a pawn shop about once a week. Buzzed head probably doesnt help, but I cant help but think it screams that I carry. My employees arent comfortable with carrying, so I conceal. No reason to conceal if you otherwise scream gun guy. My store has a very corporate feel, so most people think we are part of a chain. Chain stores typically dont allow carrying. |

Look forward to your take on the apex pants I only have one pair of them so far, but for me they're pretty much perfect for everyday wear and they easily fly under the radar. Not as baggy as other 5.11s and the cargo pockets aren't nearly as noticeable as the Stryke or TacLites. The only think I could see as a con is that the material seems thinner than their other offerings, so durability may be a concern. If they hold up just as well as the rest of mine, then they are a clear winner for me. |

Apex are cool, 30% less cop-ish, but still too tacticool for what I hoped to find. Slimmer fit than Stryke pants, but only slightly. No old man flex waist, but the material has so much give, it feels about the same. Very stretchy. Im keeping them and putting them in rotation.
The Duluth were laughable. The material felt like something that would survive in space, or something that would be bullet resistant. Built for men who eat meat and potatoes. and high rise enough to conceal an AR pistol IWB. |
