I want to make a ak74u side folder into a pistol. Either a sig ak47 brace or an adapter for a buffer tube and use a AR type brace. I'm having difficulties finding options to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Need more details on the gun itself. Is it already built? Is it an actual AKS-74u kit or just some short AK that everyone calls a "krink" when it's completely different than the 74u?

isnt once a rifle always a rifle
cant make into pistol?
at least where I live thats the case

also you want to make that rifle into a pistol im assuming shorter barrel?
or standard barrel with the arm brace only?

because if its the standard rifle barrel and adding a arm brace im sure thats legal
as you can already fold it so no worry on overall length where you live

anyways there is that bolt on adapter for a ar buffer tube which im sure a quick google search will bring that up
and one that folds that also bolts onto the rear trunnion so you can still fold it too

then you just use the ar buffer tube and the ar arm brace

It is a kit.  The folding stok assembly is like this

I have found many adapters that convert a regular AK type, but haven't found anything to adapt this.

Federally, no. First a rifle, always a rifle.

You say you want to make a pistol, so you're being quite unclear:

1. you can't legally make a pistol from a receiver that began life as a rifle.
2. if you mean leaving the barrel at 16" or more and adding a buffer tube and/or brace, you might can do it but iffy if it would meet the 26" over all length requirement as it has not been positively ruled that anything beyond the "firearm" counts on that end except a stock.

It seems  you mean you want to use the folding adapter part of that stock assembly to adapt to brace and/or buffer tube? Anyway, note point 1 above all.

You can't build a kit into whatever you want? Even if you assemble the kit from parts and press your own receiver?

If you have a virgin receiver, all is good. Can be a pistol. If a pistol first, can even go back and forth between pistol and rifle.

So, is there a way to do this?

Several ways to do adapter to get to buffer tube and also to get them to fold.  I don't know enough about the different receiver shapes or that particular item you linked, so will let those with more knowledge chime in.

I did it with a PAP M92 pistol, using US Machine Gun grip to buffer tube adapter with folding adapter added in between. Most folks here prefer to use something that attaches with screws after drilling/tapping the receiver, though.

I was just trying to ensure you weren't  gonna try something obviously illegal while posting about it to boot.

best,

Thanks I appreciate the help. I definatly don't want to build anything illegal, just trying to use as much of the original parts as possible. Happy new year to ya!

Anyone know of a way to use the stock base and adapt to an AR buffer tube stock? Maybe by removing the hinge pin and attach something?

Check out http://www.usmachinegun.com/

I'm not sure if this will fit, but hopefully it'll work.
