Was helping a buddy teach a CHL class, yesterday.  After everyone left, we tried to put a mag through my new Draco.  Shot about every other round.  It was just way too dark to see what was going on.  Wanted to get back to the range, today, but thunderstorms rolled in.  Man, I was so stoked to get this thing.  Hopefully, it was just the mag.  Was using Wolf ammo and stupid me only took one mag full.  Fired the first round, then after that had to rack it every other round; 2,4,6 so on.

Was the wolf hollow point?  I know that some AK's don't like that.  I have yet to shoot my draco too.  I refinished the handguards, but still haven't had much time to try it out.  I hope I have better luck than you did.

You think they would take it back after I have already cut off the muzzle nut?  Should have shot it first, but had the part and bad weather so I dremeled the muzzle nut off and replaced the muzzle device before shooting.

Where did you get it?  Has it been more than 30 days?

Claim ignorance on the nut

Got it at the Ft Worth gunshow, but they were an actual dealer with a shop here in Texas.  Les than 30 days ago.  I'm going to try different ammo.  I was shooting Wolf122 gr FMJ.

Try different ammo and mags.  Mine had canted sights, only problem with it, sent it back and the replacement has been 100% for about 400 rounds now.

Not a single failure.

Hopefully its just a may issue that's usually the culprit. Lets know when you get a chance to check it out.

Weather turned to pure shit, again.  Off tomorrow, so maybe I can run out to the range.  I gotta figure out something quick in case it needs to go back.

Fudge!  Now they're talking snow.  Not afraid of some snow, but the range will be so muddy you can't get to it.  I did figure out that I wasn't using the mags that came with it.  Didn't think it would matter, but I guess it could.  They do fit tighter than my old mags.  Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather man didn't get it right, this time.

You must give it a good cleaning...yeah its oily but take it apart and wipe the parts down.

Mine did the exact same thing,I took it to the range right out of the box and it was a total buzz loss it jammed every shot, I took it home took it apart and hosed it down with solvent and wiped the parts down oiled it back up and it has not missed a beat since. There was what looked like small amounts of Cosmoline on some of the parts.

P.S. I to thought it was the mags.

Success!  Well, sort of.  Okay, snow was light and gone by noon.  Promised the wife I would help her clean the house then go to the range.

I took the two steel mags that came with the Draco and two Tapco polymer mags.  Used Wolf FMJ as before, Wolf Military Hollow Points and Monarch FMJ.  Kinda funny results.

Wiped her down, again, put some lube on the rails and loaded her up.  I shot into a dirt berm rapid fire and slow, just trying to mix it up a bit.

Steel mags: Shot flawlessly all three types of ammo.  Not one hiccup.

Tapcos: Shot the Monarch and Wolf FMJ flawlessly and fit really tight in the receiver.  But, would not feed the HPs, at all.  Matter of fact it split a couple of rounds at the nose when it jammed.  Even tried to fool her by putting a HP in between the other ammo (wolf, HP, Monarch HP etc).  No go.  With the Tapcos it jammed every single time with HPs, but ran flawless with FMJ.

Didn't have time to sight her in, but before I left I was standing about 30 yards out hitting a 12" x 12" metal plate 10 out of 10 times, using the sights and pushing out against the sling.

I'm stoked and all is good with the world.

Glad you got her running.  Did you notice how easy they are to bump-fire?  I know, waste of ammo.

Don't have any Tapco mags but  I do have 5 Ak's including a Draco and have never had an issue with hp's in steel mags.  I have also tried the new Bulgy bullet mags.  Polymer but no metal tabs.  They came with my M-72 and ran perfectly in my Draco and the 72.  I fed them some hp's just to see and no issues with them.  Going to pick up a few more to play with.

Great to hear you got the Draco up and running! Yeah I feel much safer running the steel mags over the tapcos.

Yeah, really glad I don't have to hassle with sending it back.

Next time out I will test all the mags I got to see what does and doesn't work.  I'm thinking it was just that one.  Funny thing is a buddy gave me a steel mag cause it would not run in his 47, but ran flawless in my WASR.  I'm thinking it was that mag.

No, did not bump fire it.  Was just too concentrated on making her run smoothly.

I can already tell she is going to turn SBR, but will stay this way for awhile, anyway.

Only thing left to do is take a dremel to the muzzle thread adapter.  The notch is not deep enough for the plunger to click into place, so it was coming loose while at the range.

Magpul MS2 should be hitting the door, tomorrow.  Can't wait!
