Looking to add an RPK to my collection. Would like 7.62x39, the wood club foot stock, wood furniture, heavy barrel, bipod , and the carry handle. What is the best one to look for as far as quality and price? Seems to be a few manufactures that produce them.
Any help and guidance will be greatly appreciated!! |

I can find M64 and M72 but neither have the carry handle. I assume that's some think you can find and add. What's is the difference between the AES10b, M64, and M72 ?
I can see some minor visual differences. I also notice some bipods fold up the the Handguard and some have about 1/2-1" gap. |
| I'm also interested in one of these rifles. It seems that century gets mixed reviews mostly leaning to not good. Canted front sight, black paint on metal parts instead of bluing etc. I'd rather pay a little more and get a nice rifle for my collection. How hard is it to add a carry handle? I'd imagine that there may be some welding? I don't want to ruin the finish if it needs to be welded. |

I got an AES10b from a friend that ordered two from JG sales while they still had them with the bipods. He said he got the second one for his son, who wanted an AR15 more so . . . my luck! I love it and the side mount for the scope is great! |

I enjoy having an RPK in the collection as well, but I mostly just enjoy looking at it and not shooting it. Something about the way the recoil feels through the clubfoot stock and the shortness of it is just uncomfortable to shoot. I plan on being a blasphemer and cutting mine down to an overall barrel length of 16" with a pinned muzzle brake and a modern style clubfoot stock just to have something different that will be more enjoyable to shoot. http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa327/drewdasponge/4.jpg Beautiful but not fun shoot in my opinion Quoted:

My Romanian Cugir RPK is pretty badass. I def enjoy having an RPK in the collection, but its big and heavy. In today's market, I'd say about $700 is a fair deal. ~WTS I enjoy having an RPK in the collection as well, but I mostly just enjoy looking at it and not shooting it. Yeah, I've always found the LOP to be too short on my Bulgy RPK as well. I'm just not aware of any descent-looking options to extend it. Quoted:

I love shooting mine. I to think I'm going to make a butt pad to extend the length though. Yeah, I've always found the LOP to be too short on my Bulgy RPK as well. I'm just not aware of any descent-looking options to extend it. Yeah there's not a lot of options out there. I was thinking about finding a large chunk of rubber for the stock and cutting/molting it to fit, or finding something already existing to fit to it... |

Quoted: I can't log on as I'm not an FFL. Did you see it in their catalog? Can you take a picture of it or know the SKU # so I can give it to my FFL. Thanks Hope this helps! |

I just got mine today from SOG and, this may just be on mine, but the bipod they sent with it does NOT fit!
Seems to be a PKM clamp on bipod. I know they've been used on RPKs before but it's too small to fit on this one. Aside from that, the tab seems to be on the wrong side as it's on the top and not the bottom They're closed weekends so I have to wait to speak to them before I rant or rave about it Other then that it's really nice looking and solid. Will shoot tomorrow with a temporary bipod and let you know how it went |
|
Yep that's the one I have, with the pin. I agree, it's way too small to fit. I'm hoping they have the correct bipod to exchange for. I think I'd rather have the slip on one, I'm ok with removing the FSP.
Seeing as you have pictures, I noticed another issue with mine and you have it also. On the hinged part of the clamp, the shim has the tab on it. Shouldn't that be on the opposite side of the clamp to correlate to the cutout on the FSB anyway? Keep me posted how it works out with SOG and I will do the same for you! |

I’m sorry to see the problems you guys are having with the bipods. I guess the well IS RUNNING DRY. I remember seeing some of them being sold without bipods, I guess they have gotten a bunch of RPD/PKM bipods and are shipping them out with the RPK’s. I have heard there is a place in UK that sells the actual RPK bipods and will ship them here. They are on the pricey side but not a deal breaker if you really want one. I will try to locate the info and post it up if I can find it. Good Luck! Just my $.02, even without the bipod I think the AES-10b is the best of the RPK’s available. |
|
I'd like that info as well!
If they don't have a correct one I want them to send the other one back. I will figure something out and make it work. May involve removing the shims I think the tab is used on mine though (or should be if it fit!) as the FSB is undercut for it... this way it has a stop and won't spin 360 ETA: Took it out this morning - 1.5" group @ 25m Think it could have been better if I did my part but I brought my lil guy and it was a bit cold - two distractions! Now I wait for school tomorrow and the call about him talking about shooting a machine gun (his words) LOL |

The FSB is cut underneath so if the tab was at least on the bottom it may have a chance of working. The original RPK collar is cut to interact with these cuts to keep the bipod from only being able to tilt so far. The PKM bipod uses the cleaning rod to keep it from only tilting so far.
Hopefully this was a mis cut batch and CAI will send SOG replacement bipods (correct or correctly cut PKMs). They still sell the M64 so they have bipods. We shouldn't have to make anything work, they should make it right and it should be easy for them to do so. |

I also agree, we shouldn't have to make them work, but I'm making that my last resort! |
| Meaning the PKM bipod on the AES10B uses the cleaning rod. I'm sure the PKM bipod on a PKM uses that tab or some other interface to work properly as the PKM is the more advanced firearm. Keep this thread posted on individual outcomes so we can assure if one get made right we all can!!! |

I have a correct bipod with the elusive collar just laying around here with some other misc accessories.... http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa327/drewdasponge/image_zps119815b5.jpeg Where did you end up getting the grip? |
|
Update: I finally got a reply from SOG. I was told that they sent my FFL a letter (he hasn't gotten it yet). In the letter they are informing him that the bipod discrepancy was turned over to Century, the importer.
Haven't heard squat from Century I think this will be a long, dragged out situation If i knew it would be this big of an issue, i probably would have sent the rifle back |
