| I would like to put a scope rail on a M72. Anyone know which rail fits a Yugo M72 and a smith who installs them? |
|
I used Tantal's screw-mounted MPK2 rail on my M72. Easy DIY install that anyone with basic mechanical skills can handle. After 2 years and many rounds fired, I am very happy with the rail. It is a high quality piece and I have had no issues with it, it has securely anchored every optic I have tried on it. |

Quoted: I want to mount the MPK-2 rail from Tantal's on my M72 RPK. Is it at all possible to do so without removing the rear sling swivel? Installing the rail on the receiver with the swivel in place is no problem. The problem arises when you try to slide the mount on the rail. It won't clear the swivel, at least not in my case. |

Quoted: what's the purpose of the vertical slit/cutout on the M72's reciever? how do u make sure the scope mount is (perfectly) parallel to the barrel? The vertical slit is where the sling swivel normally resides. As to why it isn't there, see my previous post. The rail is installed parallel to the top edge of the receiver. The spec for the MPK2 is 10.5-11.0mm from the top edge of the rail to the top edge of the receiver. The main point is that the measurement at the front of the rail is the same as at the back of the rail within that range. Get yourself a dial or digital caliper for this project, a tape measure or ruler isn't going to cut it. |
