A neighbor was showing me his Valmet 76 this afternoon and we noticed that it was designated .223 (as opposed to 5.56) caliber. While his opportunities for shooting it have been limited, he has put about 100-200 rounds of 5.56 M193 through it. My question - is the Valmet 76 (which as I understand was built as a commercial version of of the AK design for the American market) chambered for 5.56 or .223? I know the differences in chamber design are minor, but I would hate to see him do over-pressure damage his 76 shooting this hot 5.56 through it. He has about 600 rounds of the M193 and is not sure whether to continuine using it. Thanks for indulging an AK newbie question. Cheers, |
