Just picked this little guy up and promptly took it to the range. My first Galil and I must say this thing is smooth. I spun on the FCD flash hider after I brought it home, but unfortunately the can is still in jail. On the waitlist for the KNS piston. Form 1 will go out next week and the plastic delete kit should be arriving soon. I also stocked up on the newly imported magazines, as I don't know how long they'll be bringing them in for.

What caliber and magazine do you have there?

The lower plastic delete kit came in today, after I visited my can in jail.
So far, I don't see any issues using it on a 5.56 Galil Ace rock-n-lock gun. Attached File Attached File |

I read through a couple archived posts which indicated it should be fine. Pic thread... MI handguard came in today. I'm not sure how I feel about this either. Absolutely nothing wrong with the handguard, and it's extremely solid. I'm not quite sure how I feel about a "tacticool" Galil yet. It also kinda looks like an ACE gen2, which I don't like as much. I'll see how hot my hand gets tomorrow. Attached File |

Worked on some double tap and reload drills, probably put around 200rds or so through it in about 30 minutes. The handguard definitely got hot. If you're planning on running more than a couple mags through it, you're definitely going to want to wear a glove if you don't have a vert grip and/or mlok panels. That said, the shape of this handguard was much more comfortable than the chunky plastic. I'm going to continue to run it for now. On a more positive note, I wanted to run a light on here, but didn't think I could run a tape switch on the gas tube rail. Surprisingly, the rail on the gas tube was much less hot than the MI handguard. Edited to add... Buddy brought out his Sandman K and I ran a few rounds through it on the Galil. It was not very quiet, but I didn't have any issues. Brass ejection was the same as running unsupressed, about 20-30ft back and to the right. |

How did you get the g36 handguards to work?
|

Originally Posted By dubagel: How did you get the g36 handguards to work? View Quote Those are on BRN180S’ not my Galil. You just cut a bit off the back of an airsoft version of the G36 hand guard and put a plastic shim inside the G36 hand guard to slide it on snug. Then you can put a screw through the hole in the top of the hand guard aligning it with a slot on the top rail of the BRN180S. Using real HK hand guards is more involved as internal material has to be removed to make them work. |

Modernized Galil. Turned the barrel from a blank, got tired of waiting for them to be in stock, plus I made it slightly heavier to accomodate the Zhukov handguard and threaded 1/2x28. Made collar for AEM5 as well. KNS piston makes it smooooooth. Installed QD sling cup in the stock hinge piece, riveted on side rail for optics rail, chopped front sight globe down, KG Gearkoted internals, like ball bearings when racking bolt. Oh and made handle 90 degrees out so charging bolt with optic is easier.
Obviously had to keep the bottle opener feature. " /> " /> " /> " /> " /> " /> " /> |
