Hi all!
Just picked up my first Galil sportster at a gun show. The rifle came with a rail system already installed and I'm looking to add optics to it. I'm looking for something like a 1x or 2x red dot sight. Something like a reflex scope not a true sniper scope. Does anyone have any experiance with these scopes on a Galil? If so can you post what you have? Pics would be great Thanks |

I appreciate your help. |

Do yourself a favor and get an IMI mount from blackthorne.com They keep the rifle authentic and look very good. ~$60 if I remember correctly.

from what I have read about the IMI mount from blackthorne.com is that it only works on authentic IMI Galils and not on Century reproductions (I am a newbie). Is this correct?
If I am incorrect, does that mount need any gunsmithing? I would have bought one of those if I thought it would have worked. when I go to http://www.blackthorne.com/ I do not see any parts. |

thanks for the info. One more question... - If I install see thru scope mounts would I be able to use the iron sights? thanks for the help. all of this goes to building a galil knowledge base which is really small (or doesnt exist compared to ak47 and ar15). no the rear sight is to low |

Review from website This mount will not work on American made, knock off, type Galil receivers (the Golani Sporter by Century Arms, for example.) According to the folks at Leapers, it was designed for original Israli made receivers where the dovetail cut in the receiver is deep enough to catch the mount. |
