I pick up a galil 397s for a good price. I put a Wood AR handguard and it looks really nice.

Wow, that is nice looking wood.

Just a question, but why the railed gas tube but mount the Aimpoint way up high over the receiver like that?

Here is mine:

I have since put a taller ring on my Aimpoint so the sights do not clutter the view as much.

Nice looking rifle there Clonehead, where did you get that railed gas tube, and how does it fasten to the rifle so it remains secure? I really like that idea.
