I am largely unfamiliar with scopes and their use.

I have been contemplating installing a side rail and a ZRAK d.d. Sarajevo ON7,62 M89 scope, cammed in 7,62 X 39

Example:  ZRAK

The side rail and scope/mount are supposed to be designed for the underfolder in that the rail has to be higher to clear the folded stock and thus the mount has to be shorter to compensate.

Have any of you done this and what are your reviews?

Also, I was wondering if you could comment on the pro's and con's of adding that long rubber eye cup.  Is it necessary?  I wear glasses, but could get by without them.

I believe that the M89 is a fixed 4x scope which sounds adequate, but there isn't exactly anywhere I can check one out.

I look forward to some advice.

Perhaps if you worded it more like a question than a statement you would get a better response.  That scope looks nice but it would not allow for an underfolder stock any more than any others out there.  The Beryl mounts that go over the dust cover would probably be the best option but I have spot welded PSL siderails on my M70 and M90 Yugos the same place as they are on the PSL (thereby making them compatible with PSL mounts/scopes configurations) and when there is no scope the underfolding stock functions perfectly.  I hope this answers your curiousity at least a little.

Actually, the M89 scope and it's corresponding rail were/are made exactly with underfolders in mind.  The M89 rail mounts high on the receiver so the scope clears the stock when folded.

Beryl-style rails do not work with underfolders, you need a rear tang to anchor the rear of the rail.

TWS will supposedly release a railed dust cover in the near future (Yugo version as well) that would make scope mounting on an underfolder easy.

I like Zrak optics (I own two ON-M76B scopes) but they are seriously overpriced IMO.

Well, I originated this thread around 4 months ago and just added an update at

I don't want to post it twice, so go there for my final solution.

Nice.  Looks like you could go with slightly lower rings for a little better chin weld if you were so inclined.  Good job nonetheless.

They are the lowest Burris makes for 1".  Come in two sizes, medium and high.  I used the medium.
Ah, a cheekrest on an underfolder? Seriously?

Perhaps if I removed the bungie chord wrap and tried a Samson AK-47 Cheek Rest  but I'm not sure it would clear the rail, and by then she'd be weighing even more!

What kind of reticle does the M89 have?

How clear is the image?

Thinking about getting the M89 scope & rail combo from Zrak U.S. for my M70B1 build...
