A buddy of mine picked up an M70 AB2 and it has pretty consistent FTF problems. Some magazines barely function at all.
As far as I can tell this is caused by a total lack of feed ramps. Has anyone here Dremelled their own feed ramps? Seems simple enough although I told my buddy that if it were my gun I'd take it to a gunsmith to have him do it. |

Millions of AKs have functioned without a bevel on the rear of the bullet guide or a bevel on the bottom of the chamber. What ammunition is he using? What magazines is he using? Do the magazines lock in correctly? If there is up and down play of the magazine at the latch because the magazine isn't held tight, has he tried holding the magazine and pushing it up? |

By feed ramps I meant a bevel on the bottom of the chamber to provide a smoother path for bullets to slide into the chamber. The brass is catching on the relatively sharp edge of the breech so feed ramps seem like a clear solution (although admittedly I'm no expert).
He's using Wolf ammo; he has a couple of metal magazines and a polymer magazine; all fit tightly although the polymer mag is very tight. The polymer jams worse than the metal magazines, but in reality they all suffer the same problem. |

Most likely it's this. I'm not too sure if your M70 was pre-Obama or not but people were reporting the same problems during that time. I had the exact problem and caught it before I even took it to the range. I did a feed function test in my backyard and it was a no go. I sent my M70AB2 back to Century and they took care of it free of charge. |

I had to pay for shipping back to century with my wasr and it came back not fixed. I was very very livid, so when I got my non working m70 replacement (shop let me exchange it), I was even more pissed but did the work myself except for welding some metal to the mag latch. I did pay someone to fix the headspacing though.
Now my m70 is super reliable - maybe you cand someone local to work on it? Like a builder? |
