| Hey all, have a few questions for yall on the yugo under folders. Do yugos have a chrome lined barrel? Also what do yall think about the compared to other AK types? How’s the accuracy? What I am looking for is a good little truck gun, and one to take camping, and possibly on a pig hunt this fall. would the yugo be a good choice? |

When I was shopping for a AK, my first thought was a Polish Underfolder because it had the chrome lined barrel. I noticed the Yugos around but wasn't too interested because it didn't have the chrome lined bore. I decided to compare pros/cons of the Polish PMKMS and the Yugo M70AB2. Polish PMKMS: Pros: Chrome Lined Barrel Nice Wood Furniture Cons: They cost more. 1mm Receiver. Likely would have to build one from a kit. (Tools cost $$) Chances of finding one to buy locally were slim. Yugo M70AB2: Pros: Thicker 1.6mm Receiver. Thicker Barrel. Designed with tritium night sights. Has a grenade launcher sight / gas tube shut-off. Recoil Spring Assembly Lock. (Makes field stripping easier actually, and also reinforces the gun when firing rifle grenades.) Cost less than the Polish. (More $$ for ammo and mags!) Generally considered more accurate due to the non-chrome barrel. (Depends on the quality of the build you get.) Cons: The one you find is likely made by Century.* A little heavier. Not Chrome Lined. (Not a huge con, chrome lining does increase durability, but can hurt accuracy and doesn't always protect against corrosive ammo.) *Century has a reputation for bad quality control, however if you can find a used M70AB2 locally and the guy you buy it from will allow you inspect it and test fire it before buying it, then you can check the common problems yourself. (canted front sight, weak ejection, and other jamming issues.) I decided the Yugo's Pro's definately outweigh it's cons, and trump the pros of the Polish. I found someone selling a Century imported Yugo M70AB2 on a D.C. Industries receiver. And they let me field strip it, look down the barrel, and test fire it. Everything looked good, no canted sight, no damaged parts, good finish, ejected the shells a good 15 feet, and went through 25 rounds of Brown Bear soft point along with 20 rounds of Golden Tiger flawlessly. |

Havn't got a chance to test that yet. When I test fired it, it was only a 25 yard range so I was shooting reasonably fast in an attempt to make it hiccup. But, in 'rapid fire' I was keeping it in i'd say a 10" circle at 25 with either type of ammunition. When I have longer ranges (100 to 300 yards) I'll get the thing sighted in to my preferences and post a range report later. (could be a month or two from now) |
| Sounds good. I cant wait to get one. have had aks a few times, but they have all been Romanians, an they all sucked. I know some people like them, but 7MOA was the best I could get. and that’s just not enough. 4-5MOA would be the most I would be able to live with. |
