I've posted on this topic before but I can't find it. My yugo has never jammed. No FTF or FTE but the weak ejection bothers me. I cleaned it and lubed it and took it out to play today. 100rds with no problems, but the ejection is not constant. I had some shells fly at 0200 at about 10' and some mearly drop on the bench from where I was shooting. I'd say about 5' was the average distance. Can any one tell me if this is normal on a YUGO. Searching in You Tube I found a guy shooting a yugo like mine. On his second shot, you can see where the shell just bearly drops out of the gun. The video is titled "Yugo M70AB2." I also had with me my SLR 95. The shells came flying out of this one. Hitting hard and loud on the roof. Can this be normal for the Yugos? -Rick in TEXAS |
| Is this a build or a Century Yugo? On my latest build I had problems on ejection. The trunion was sitting just a little high in the receiver causing it to bind a little. I used some lapping compound on the trunion and cycled the action to free it up and helped a lot. Don't know if this is related to your problem or not. |

Mine is a Cenrury Yugo. One of the earlier ones I think. It's on a DCI receiver and it's an underfolder with the wood handguards. Before i shot it this Sat I removed the gas valve to inspect it. It doesn't look corroded or damaged. One thing I have notice is that the ejector thingy on the bolt is softer than the ones on my other AKs. By softer I mean easier to move with my finger. Maybe this is where the problem is. BTW Did anyone see that video on You Tube? How can I make a link to it? |

Mine is also a Century with a DCI receiver. I went on Youtube and watched every Yugo I could being fired. It looked like ALL of them eject cartridges all over. Some way out, some almost next to the shooter. I'm thinking that it might be normal for Yugo's to have sloppy ejectors. My Yugo didn't FTF or FTE, no jaming at all, so I'm not too worried about it. Just for reference, I also have an Arsenal SAM-7, and 2 Romanian G's, all 3 eject the cartridges a good 15 feet consistently. |

Still curious to know why my Yugo ejects empties so weak. Today I placed a fired casing in the chamber of the yugo and hand cycled it to see how it ejects. Most of the time it came out at 0300 and just dropped to the floor. I tried the same thing in my SLR 95, and even hand cycling at low speed, the casing goes over 5 feet at 0200. I'm convinced it's not a gas problem. Today I also noticed the rail on the left side that ejects the casings, is a bit smaller compared to my other AKs. On my MAK90 and SLR95 the ejector enters all the way into the notch in the bolt. Probably hitting the empty closer to the center. On the Yugo, the ejector rail does not enter all the way into the notch in the bolt. My guess is that it hits the empty closer to the rim. This is probably why it goes more to the right at 0300. I don't know why I'm so worried about this. I have just under 300rnd with 0 jams of any kind. |

Has anyone given any more thought to this. I really do think that the ejector rail is shorter than usual in the DCI receiver. Lacking a better tool, today with a measuring tape I measured the ejector rail on all my AKs. They all seem to be at 10/16 of an inch from outside of the receiver to the point of the ejector. The Yugo measures 9/16 of an inch. I'm hoping someone can comfirm this, or maybe take better measurements. Again, I have to say I have not had any failures to eject. Just very short ejections. I'm worried about wear. If the ejector rail gets any shorter, I'm sure I'll start seeing stovepipes and FTE. |
