I just took my new Yugo out to the range and was greeted with a doublefeed on my 7th round. Also, the button that unlocks the cover/guide rod assembly now takes a brass hammer to operate (probably just a burr that needs knocked down.)
Needless to say, this doesn't increase my confidence enough for this to replace my Bushmaster as my ranch rifle.
Anyone else had this experience? Any ideas on how to resolve it?

Doublefeeds are not common on properly build AKs. If you can, check the height that the magaine rides at against the bolt rail height on a AK that works. I'd suspect that your mag is too high and/or your bolt is riding too low and stripping 2 rounds from the mag instead of 1.

If the receiver is built incorrectly the best fix is to return it to the manufacturer.

All this assuems you've had this failure with multiple mags and a clean rifle.
