If I have the term right while at the range shooting my Yugo SKS I was shooting normaly, not bump firing and 4 or 5 rounds rattled off fast without pulling the trigger! This happend once before but only 3 rounds fired.
Whats going on here?
Anyone else have this happen with your SKS?
Edit to say the bolt is free of cosmoline.

Thanks

What kind of ammo were you using?

I have heard before that some Russian mil-surp ammo has weak primers and that is what causes the slam fires in these types of guns.

You also might want to check the disconnector. Since it is a Yugo, it may be a battle vet and the disconnector may be warn out.

Or the firing pin got stuck which the direction I would go in is here---> www.murraysguns.com/sksown.htm and get the spring return firing pin. Its pretty common in SKS's to shoot a round or two or more from a stuck firing pin no matter how clean it is. I have a Chinese and Yugo unissued SKS and will be firing them on June 17th, they both already have the spring return firing pin in them.

The slam fire came while useing Golden Tiger ammo which is the only ammo I've ever used in it.

How can I tell if my rifle is a battle vet or if it has seen heavy use?

I have the trigger group in my hand, which part is the diconnector?

Nak,
Thanks for the Murry's link. That helps.

Most SLAM fires are not caused by primer or a problem with the trigger group I'm not say this isn't the case with you.  The YUGO has a free floating firing pin it must move freely inside the bolt  if it get stuck in the forward position it will continue to fire till your mag is empty.  The best way to eliminate this is to remove your bolt  take either some brake cleaner  or mineral spirits and soak your bolt for an hour or so then  use a high pressure air hose to blow  the  firing pin channel out through the firing pin hole the firing pin should rattle when you shake the bot back and forth.  Some people  remove the firing pin  to clean it by punching out the retainer pin  but it can be a real pain to do that  I never have  I clean my bolt like this every time I come back from the range or shooting and I have never had a problem with Slam fire  shooting any type of ammo.  Just my  2 cents worth.

I'd also recommend the spring loaded firing pin.
And take the FP out of the bolt, it's not the hard, and make sure the FP hole is clean.

Did you look at any of your empty ammo cases, the primers, a friend had a problem with Wolf HPs blowing holes in the primers and the crud was blowing back jamming the firing pin.
