I am not familiar with SKS, but I recently came across a Russian with  CCCR engraved on the receiver. Does this have any significance?

I am sorry I was getting the information second hand. I got the rifle last night and on the right side of the rec it says made in russia and CCCP. There is no date stamp on the dust cover (only marking on the dust cover is serial #) and one star on the left side of the rec. All of the serial #'s match and the rifle is in great condition. The stock is in great condition it has the serial # on it and several X's.

Any information as to value or any information on this rifle anyone could give me would be very helpfull.

Your SKS is a 1955-56 year mfg.  they didnt date stamp the covers for those 2 yrs that I'm aware, rumor has it that the CCCP was just put on there to make it  more appealing  to the US market by giving it more of a "Russian" flair! basicly a sales gimick.
