I have been looking at some SKS,  i am wanting to keep with the fixed 10 round magazines. So far i seen the yugos for the most part.  I am courious how do the Yugo's SKS stack up to other SKS and what SKS would you recomend on the requierments as the built built and the most stought so to say.

Thank you

They are cheap enough.....Just get one.....IF you don't like it, you're not out too much, and you can sell it....

I have a recently acquired Yugo that cleaned up very nice as well as a Norinco that I bought new in the box (crate) 16 years ago.

The Yugo is much better made more along the lines of a sporting rifle than a military rifle in terms of the quality of the machining.

The Yugo's aren't bad at all, especially for the price. They do lack a chrome bore though, if that is something important to you.

SKS's are for the poor collector. I've got a collection of SKS's, and i paid less than $1k for all combined:

Albanian
Romanian
Russian
Yugo M59
Yugo M59/66
Chinese

Na i am not to worried about chrome lining.  Nore is it going to server the spot as a collectors peace. Its just going to be used for shooting the snot out of it for the most part. Possably take it hunting once and a while depending how i feel about it. And it seems more appeling to me then the AK-47 clones. The ones i seen on aimsurplus are machined steel if i reamd correctly. I am kinda consured about how it will stand up to other firearms in the SKS class in durability of the firearm. Not that i have beef with the AK-47. Depending i may also get a PSO scope for it to spice it up a bit. Is there places that still sell 7.62x39 on stripper clips yet.

Thank you
Jesse

Try cdnninvestments.com I think they've had the best price on strippers that I saw.  ~$4 for 20.

No probs with my yugo so far, though the stock is not as pretty to my eyes as the chinese. I like the bayonet better, though. I saw somewhere the yugo may be beefier due to hotter loads used. It does seem heavier, but haven't seen solid data to back up the observation. Accessories to launch practice grenades are out there, and I saw an attachment to launch golf balls which looks cool. Can't see any downside to SKS unless of course your'e looking for a rifle to shoot 1 MOA Just my 2 cents
