I replaced the stock on my Yugo with an ATI. And it needs to be filed in places to fit right. Any places do this, how much do they charge. Also anybody replaced the front site and shortened the barrel to use a regular muzzle brake.

Oh how do you get the front site base off?

MOST sks people here are purists.  I'm not,  I change mine a little bit.  If I could help you I would.  Most extensive mod I've done is taking a Dremmel to my Bayonet lug and grenade launcher sight.  Only other think I wanna do is find a nice muzzle brake to put on so I can take the grenade launcher off.

These guys got lots of parts. Wonder if regular sks front sites would fit, if the barrel was cut were it necks down and I could use the normal muzzle brake.

I've had my Russian since 1995, and the only mod I've made to it is to refinish the original stock and install a new wooden stock with side mount for the sling. I'll post some pics as soon as I can get them developed.

You should be able to file/fit the stock yourself, its not hard.As to replacing the front sight,do you mean just the post or the whole front sight assembly? If the assembly, what do you plan to replace it with.If your rifle is a yugo 59/66,you can shorten the barrel by just driving out the pin and unscrewing the grenade launcher, you then have a threaded barrel,I believe Century Arms modified this rifle by removing the grenade launcher and installing a muzzle break for sale in CA,you may want to contact them to buy the break for the rifle.

Sorry, missed the last part of your post, the front sight base has pins that need to be driven out,if you have the 59/66 the grenade launcher will have to be removed first to slide the front base off.

Ok yeah the whole site base. Pins are out and Ive tried a wrench to turn it a little and whacked it with a hammer for awhile, hasn't moved does it just slide off? Will the normal sks site base fit or is the front part of the barrel to small. Not sure what front site to replace it with, what would be good.

Muzzle threads are right handed(leftie loosie) after you remove the pin. A FAL flash hider will screw right on. Try heating the FSB with a torch to get it to loosen, I took one apart one time and there was solder underneth it.

I like the ATI stock but it took some modifying to make it comfortable to me. I just used a half round double cut file and finished it with a halfround single cut file then sanded smooth/painted.
I took a lot of meat off just above my thumb at the back of the pistol grip. It did not hurt the stock at all. The nice thing about an ATI stock is that you can modify them quite abit. I rounded the pistol grip to fit my hand, cut the top vent rib off, and modified the rear of the stock so it can be disassembled for cleaning. I also shortened it about an inch.

If I wasn't in Iraq I would offer to modify yours for you.
