Dimples on the firing pin after chambering are normal because of the free floating firing pin. Since it's free floated, it's sensitive to dirt or grease and dirt jamming it past the bolt face can cause slamfires. Just dis-assemble and clean it to be sure. If it isn't that than soft primers "Could" be the culprit, or your disconector may be worn and the rifle may be "bump firing" ocassionally, causing the doubling and tri-bursts. _______________________________________ Dirty deeds.....done dirt cheap

Clean it! My friend bought a used SKS this past summer, we went to the range the next day or so and he did'nt do much to it except clean the bore with a boresnake. He loaded the mag with 10 rds. from the stripper clip, let the bolt go home and was ready to fire. On his first trigger pull the rifle went into full auto mode and dumped the whole magazine. He almost shit himself! Needless to say some attention was drawn to him at the range, so he packed up promtly and went home. When he got home he disassembled the SKS to find all kinds of cosmoline inside the trigger group, he degreased everything, re-lubed it all and reassembled it. Now it functions 100% Dirty SKS's will go full auto very easily, double fire, triple fire and slam fire. Slam fire's are probably more common, alot of people have fired corrosive ammo through some of the older SKS's and it cause the firing pin to corrode and get stuck inside the bolt, WALA! Slam-Fire! |
