I found a russian SKS at a gunshop for 250 bucks. its in good condition, probably better, the only problem i can find is that the wood on the gas piston doesnt match the stock wood. Let me know what you guys think.

Not bad price on the russian if in good condition.  The handgaurd may have been replaced or separately refinished.  Simple solution is to buy and clean up the wood.

Strip that Russian before you hand over your $$$
I paid more than that, but I got a Tula Russian (preban) with under 50 round fired through it. ALL the orgional parts and accessories, a Choate pistol grip stock, and sport stock. plus a 20rnd Non detach ChiCom mag. Shoots great with the custom muzzle breaj that was put on it. 2 MOA !!! with Russian (wolf FMJ) ammo!

Thats not a bad price in my area. I paid $325 for mine that had 5 rounds put through it. You have to ask yourself "what are using it for". Mine is for show, I may never shoot it due to all matching #'s. If you intend to shoot it then you can buy a replacement stock. In your shoes I would buy it and replace the stock to something nice from Tapco.com or sksman.com and do some mod's. You might be able to find a matching wood stock on the internet too.
