I am going to talk to a gun dealer tommorow about ordering me up a sks, the only thing is I don't know which to get.
I wanted a yugo but I just realized they all have gernade launchers and that it makes them illegal, (I live in CA) so here is my question does the yugos work Good with the launcher removed or does this cause problems?

also how are the albanian and romanian sks's reliable well made? easy to find parts?

and one final question who should I buy it from and does anyone know where I can get a model 56 that came without the gernade launcher.

sorry about all the questions about these guns just trying to make the right choice.

thanks

greg,
"does the yugos work Good with the launcher removed or does this cause problems?"

i think interordnance still has some with the grenade launcher removed, califonia legal. i would not think this would cause any problems b/c gr. lau. are pinned or threaded on so the end of the muzzle should still have the crown, at least i think, wife is sleaping so i cant go check.

""also how are the albanian and romanian sks's reliable well made? easy to find parts?""

i prefer the romanians as they are exact copys of the original russian sks(inwich i believe is the best sks followed by romanian,EARLY chinese, yugo then albanian). milled and made superbly imo, only diff. btwn russian is wood and rear sight. i would nothesitate to add more to my collection.  i am biased though as i dont own a albanian. im a little leary to buy one with the prices and from what i've read of some of their conditions leave a lot to be desired. i would say only get one if you are collecting sks's.

""and one final question who should I buy it from and does anyone know where I can get a model 56 that came without the gernade launcher""

i think the m56 is sold out, havent seen them for sale for a while. you could check auctionarms.com and gunbroker.com for someone selling theirs and use a transfer dealer.
let me know if i can be of further ass. and good luck
