I do not like tech sights and would like to keep to stock sight.  Does anyone have pictures or instructions of how they modified their stock rear sight to mke it usable?

I swapped the front sight post with a thinner one.. and threw on tech-sights.

I want to say that Williams or another maker offers a peep sight that mounts on the same spot as the existing rear sight (if positioning is what you don't like about the tech sights).

>>I do not like tech sights<<

I'm curious as to why not, as I'm considering them myself.

Nothing bad about them.  I just don't want to pay $50-60 on a sight for a $200 gun that I'm not going to use that often.  I can improve the stock sight with a file and some cold blue.

I was hoping someone on here has done the same and could give me some pointers.

Order the thinner front sight from techsights for $7, and widen and deepen the rear notch just a tad. That's all I do to my sks' s and ak's, and it is a big improvement.

What do  you use to do this?  My sight measures .045" in width.  I see most people are going to 1/8", which seems extreme.  I'l like to try 1/16" to 0.080".  Most files are see are 1/8" in width.

Look for needle files, I've seen 1/16".

I use a jewelers file.  Picked up a set at Harbor Freight a few years ago for cheap.  I use the one that is tapered like a knife to start the cut, then finish with the flat file.  I have seen people use a drill bit on low speed to also make a cut in from the top.

I don't open up the rear much, it only takes a little bit to make a big difference in the view.
