God! I WISH I could get my SKS's back!!!
Look.... be patient and an unmodified, decent-shaped one will come your way. Or, offer this guy what his is really worth (up to $600?!? WTF??? Really?). I'm not a big guy, but a standard SKS proved to be way too small for me and I "tacti-cooled" my first one (with great success, I might add). I traded em both on an AK (on the word of a "gunsmith! family friend" who proved to be incompetent - AND _no_ friend! I'm still kicking myself, years later! The SKS is, IMHO, a fine "starter" gun. In good shape, it's more accurate than an AK and, with practice (& a few minor mods), just as easy to work with. Neither of mine ever had a "gunsmith FTF or FTE that I can remember and I'd be willing to trust my life to one; given the proper modifications and circumstances. No doubt about it! The one you're referring to may or may not be the one for you. But, dude! There are hundreds of thousands out there! The right one will come your way. No doubt about it! |

It's kinda cool, but I can't help wonder why someone would invest alot of money on an SKS. Also, why would someone bubba up a somewhat rare SKS ? If you figure the cost of the gun plus the cost of everything he did to it, why not just buy an AR ? It looks kinda like an AR so ??????
$800 bucks for it?? they say there's an ass for every seat. |

Not twice the price that it should be, but that crap-T-cool stock devalues it for a lot of collectors. There are plenty of SKS-M & SKS-D fish in the sea. | THe SKS-D's and M's are nice and all but that dude's high as a kite asking that much. Then again I knew a guy that had an old beat up C10 pick-up truck that his wife hated and told him to put it up for sale. So he put a for sale sign on with an asking $30,000. She was happy that it was for sale, and he was happy that it never sold. Could be same situation. |
