Took my new to me 51 Tula out last weekend to try out. Shot fine but needs a few sight tweaks. While cleaning, I noticed there isn't a buffer that I see being sold on other sites. Should my model have a buffer installed? Like I stated, it shot fine but as with anything new I was wondering if I'm missing something. Thanks.

The rifle did not have a buffer installed when it was built.
I've had a Chinese made Type 56 carbine since the mid- 80s. I've fired it thousands of times. It does not have a buffer.

Thanks for the reply. All of the exploded views that I've been able to find are hard to see. Anyone know where a decent Russian exploded view could be found online?

You dont NEED a recoil buffer, they werent issued with the design. I use them in a few of mine though to prevent metal to metal contact. They dont harm anything thats for sure.
