I found another SKS that I couldn't pass up, and a rare one at that.

It's a paratrooper with the richest reddish finish that I've seen on a Chinese SKS.  But what makes it intriguing is the DB arsenal stamp.  Not much is known for sure about the arsenal stamping, but it is mostly rumored to indicate a gun that was manufactured for military export to Bangladesh or Bangkok.

There are only a handful of DB's that I have heard that have been modified to paratrooper length.  This one is a KSI import and I really love the grain in the buttstock.

That doesn't look like the usual cheap ass wood on most Chinese SKS's. Nice score!

As nice as the stock looks, it is just the color of the shellac that makes the gun stand apart.  The wood itself is the usual soft "Chu" wood.

As far as my gunpal acct, Gunlover, you may credit it now.  I will send you as many more pics as you like.

I have two paratrooper carbines with pretty nice wood, though not nearly as nice as the one posted.

And, I have a late Factory 26 rifle from '80 or '81 that has EXCELLENT wood.

Chinese SKSs once sold for as little as $79.  True.  But they are not cheap.
