Thought that some of you might enjoy looking at some photos I snapped of an SKS that belongs to a friend. He pulled it out of a closet and showed it to me. He said that he purchased it back around 1991 or 1992 as part of a "case" purchase where he and a friend split a case of SKS rifles. Remember that they were going for less than $100 back then. He said that this is the only one that he kept  because of the serial number. He has a 30 round mag in it currently but still has the factory mag somewhere. He also said that to date he's never fired a single round through it.

Enjoy the pics!

Very cool, indeed.  Would be great for the guys over on the Survivor's SKS Boards to see that one so they can drool.

Looks like a nice ChiCom, but according to the receiver it is serial #9,100,001, not serial #1.  That makes it 9 million, 100 thousand rifles too late!

I'm guessing that the Chinese SKS with the actual serial #1, made in 1956, was lost to time ages ago, and that it also had a blade (rather than spike) bayonet, as did all "early" ChiCom SKS rifles.

Actually the "91" could be and probably is the year that it was made and thats why the "91" doesnt appear on the rest of the stamped parts! This is the method on all of my Norinco "D" models, all of the serial numbers on my "D's" start with an "88", in refference to the year, followed by a 00xxx.

that may be with yours but my serial is 2306xxx, i promise you it wasn't made in 1923....either way, it was #1 of that 100k batch...which is awesome regardless

It's Chinese, so everything is actually read backwards, meaning you have #100,000.

I remember the local sporting goods store had Norinco SKSs on sale for $89 around that same time frame.  I meant to get one, but never quite got there.

After all, it was just a beater SKS, and a Chinese one at that.
