What can someone expect for velocity from the common barrel lengths? This is in 7.62X39
8" 10.5" 12.5" 16" How far can you realistically engage with each barrel length and what is the sweet spot for a gun that will most likely be used close in but may have to take a long shot (200 yards on occasion)? |
|
I'm not sure about a "sweet spot" as you call it, but with my Krinks (both calibers), I'm good out to 200m with iron sights on 18" steel targets, especially the 5.45
With regard to velocity, here are a couple of old threads on the subject. http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86603 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=82&t=90315 |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbgAh9-sCDQ See MAC's Draco video on velocity. Chronoed at average 2075 FPS. The Draco has a 11.5" BBL. Your not going to see much change in drop out to 100 yards.
Quoted:
What does this translate into as far as drop goes? Are the krink sites regulated to still work with the reduced velocities? |

There's this:
