Anybody ever have this pin walk out of the hole?
I was cleaning after a range trip, this morning, and when I went to close the cover I noticed it was out of alignment. Then that is when I noticed the hinge pin was about halfway out. I drove it back in, but of course if it came out once I'm sure it can, again. Any fixes known? |
| You need a flare on both side of the top cover hinge pin, it doesn't have to be very large just enough to keep the pin from moving around. If you use small ball peen hammer and back up the opposite side, a couple of taps should do it. The clearance between the top cover hole and the flared pin is very tight so it doesn't take much to keep it from moving out. Repeat if necessary just don't get carried away, light taps will do the job. If the pin you are using is from a demilled, kit one side of the pin may have too much material taken from it when it was removed and it will not flare. If this is the case you will need to replace the piece, you can buy one or make a new one on a lathe. |
