Picked up a Maadi ARM at the local pusher today.  Seems to be in almost new condition, save for a few marks where the mag scrapes the mag release.  It is marked with a 93, so I'm assuming it was imported in 1993.  It is an ACC/Intrac import.

I'm wanting to get rid of the thumbhole stock (possibly a Romanian wire side folder??), as well as add a slant flash hider.  What would be the best options for doing such?  Any legal issues?

It's not a problem as long as you don't exceed the number of foreign parts per 922(r), which is 10.

I bought my Egyptian years ago and converted it to normal using a kit from First Son in Duluth, GA. It came with American black walnut furniture (3 compliance parts), US-made followers and mag floor plates (2 parts), and disconnector (1 part). I have since replaced the entire FCG with a Tapco kit (two more parts) and a US made slant brake. This allows me to use any AK magazine....stupid laws, but they are laws.

Removing the tac-welded muzzle nut was extremely easy on mine. In fact, I just gripped it with some pliers and twisted. It takes more effort to open a can of spaghetti sauce.

Here's what she looks like...

I removed the tac welded nut on my 95, and added a slant comp, converted thumbhole to a sidefolder, and  added a black plastic Egyptian grip....................piece of cake.
