I want to install a regular hand guard on my 7.62x39 Saiga. has anyone cut the goove for the retainer without using a mill? Besides removing the FSB and Gas Block, what other issues might I need to address?

I cut the sides of the retainer with a dremel put it on the barrel and then welded it back together ........I cut the groove in the barrel for the retainer simply by useing a angle grinder and it works great

There's a guy on the Siaga 12 website that sells a clamp on adapter. It might be available on Tapco's webiste too...

Just have a buddy mill out the protrusions in a bulgy handguard retainer and finish up w/ a dremel. or just dremel them out. works great.
