I just got a Saiga .308 and was wondering if anyone has performed any "upgrades" or "mods" to one lately on this site.

Also what breaks besides the typical slant does everyone use?

Thanks Medic-1

have you done the pistol grip conversion yet to use a regular ak stock and ak trigger group?

No I tried to remove the stock with the 3 screws short of taking a hacksaw to it but it wouldn't come off that's why it's still in "stock" form.
Any suggestions?

www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/ is a guide on how to convert. its actually easier to convert a .308 then the x39 version shown.

DOes the .308s have the hole already in the bottom of the reciever under the plates or do you need to cut it once you ge hte plates off.

It should have the hole, but you will need to drill/dremel the welds off that hold the bottom plate on.  Don't worry. It's easy, and you will be glad you did it.

Thanks for all the great help and info. How about brakes? I really like the "A2 birdcage" style looking one offered by VEPR and I think they also make one that resembles a PHANTOM FH. However I can only find what I like to call "The old lady cigarette holder" type for the .308 which I don't like at all. It doesn;'t have that Tactical look I'm going for. Any suggestions?

I found this brake here which I think would absolutely amazing pinned or threaded at the end of my Saiga also after I finish with this one I think I will tackle a more difficult project . What do you think ?

adding a brake will be the hardest part. there is not enough room at the end of the barrel to thread or even pin anything on beacuse the front sight sits to far forward.
