Evening All!

I am new to the Kalishnakov family of weapons.  What I am curious about is what is the quality difference of the various brands.  I own a WASR (this is what actually got me interested in AKs) and have been thinking on purchasing Vepr.  I have also seen alot of other brands.  Are the differneces similar to what it is with AR in regard to Bushmaster, RRA, DPMS?, or are there marked changes in quality from one to another.

Thanks for any info thrown my way.

There can be GREAT differences in quality of build and finish between AKs. I like the VEPR myself, but Arsenals are usually very nice from the factory, and some builds by AK-USA, Kreb's, and the like can have amazing fit/finish. My suggestion is handle as many different AKs as possible. Good luck!

Not definitive, but could answer many of your questions.

I like the Veprs and Arsenal the best. I do like my Global trades AK though with a 1.6mm reciever and blond wood furniture. I thought I had my Romanian looking nice but the blond furniture on my Global Trades makes it look like a hag. LOL. Veprs however are my personal favorite because to me they are as the slogan says "The AK that feels like an HK" maybe not completely true but the closest thing for the money. I like the furniture that every one hates on the Veprs because I do not like traditional AK stocks because they feel short to me. The ergonomics feel more natural on the Vepr stock to me. As far as fit and finish the Aresenal and the Vepr are the best I have seen with the Arsenal maybe a little ahead but not by  that much and as far as accuracy I am going to say Vepr is in the lead on that one. My local dealer sells Veprs for $550 and I have never seen a Arsenal for under $700 or at least a long time any way and then they were high $600s.  Some people like the milled reciever better on the Arsenal and thus pay for it. Nothing wrong with that. I could care less and like my heavy duty RPK recievers on my Veprs. I can not see ever wearing it out. The nice thing about the Veprs and Arsenals is they are nice out of the box and still cheaper than an AR and more reliable in my opinion. Vectors are too from what I have seen. I started with a WASR that I converted too. I used to make fun of AKs and only like ARs until I got one. Now I will never realy go back over but still have an AR and like to shoot it. WHEN I HAVE TIME.
