I found this up in the Optics section.  What do you guys think? I suppose it’s the closest thing to a "flat top receiver" we AK owners can have. Who knows if it'll even fit a vepr, but IF it did, do you think it’s a viable alternative to the Ultimak ACR?

I kind of like that>I wonder if that will fit my WASR.

Interesting...however, the top rear rail looks a little too long. It might get in the way of disassembly.

It won't fit on a VEPR, because it uses standard AK handguard retainers...same thing with the Krebs 2-piece rail system. I'd love to have a Krebs rail on my KTR-03V.

This is a Sako 92S with B&T rail that belongs to BT96... I hope he doesn't mind me reposting his picture. Notice how the top rail is much shorter...

I am getting one of these rail systems for my Valmet 62.

The first rail system I ever encountered was the B&T and like you said, its a no-go just as is the Krebs.

My question then is, if the Vepr's have such whack mounts, then how is the Ultimak ACR able to fit all AK's including the Vepr?

BTW I sent an email to the people selling the wrap-around mount and asked if it'll fit a Vepr. It will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

The Ultimak fits on the VEPR because it uses the VEPR factory front sling swivel to hold it in place.

There's a tacked thread in this forum that shows how it works.

yeah that part I know. What confuses me is how can the Ultimak work for veprs AND regular AK's (which implies some kind of uniformity between the two), but the Krebs [for example] works for regular AKs and NOT veprs (which counters that implication)?

If  I am not mistaken the ultimak mounts on a regular AK using "Clips" not the retainer and it is longer with the sling stud which is how it wounts on a VEPR.

I recieved confirmation that the rail system does NOT fit VEPRs. No surprise I guess, but at least we know.

All that stuff relying on just the handguard clamps??

I see more hope for the bridge between the rear sight leaf pin to the rear stock tang, ala super vepr, which may be my romy psl winter project to accept full-size western mildot scopes.
