I purchased a converted 5.45.  It does not have a bullet guide.  Does the 5.45 need one, or is that only a problem in the larger calibers?  Help greatly appreciated.

Some say yes some say no. Mine needed one. It had a lot of FTfeeds without one. If you are using the 30rd saiga mags then no. Military issue then yes.

Have owned two 5.45mm Saigas and used surplus 30 rounders in 'em.  Never had a ftf, or any issues but others have.  You could always just shoot the gun to find out if it needs the fix.

Same here, never a problem without one.  Shoot first then buy if needed.

I never had issues either, but I still installed. I do only because I figure the Russians who have been building these things a lot longer than I have should know what they're doing. Plus it just looks kinda empty in there w/o it.

Mine needed one, wouldn't feel reliably without. FTF with every magazine, its a pretty simple inexpensive install for some peace of mind.
